Veggie Order: Placed

Placed my Seeds of Change order today. Will be starting the earliest plants, the onions and leeks, in late January, so I figured it’s time. When I originally posted my gardening plans, some people suggested I “start small.” Given my aspirations, this is starting small!

You sure are going to have some good eats after this summer! I’m in total agreement with you about starting small. One or two varieties of each veggie IS small. :) I just placed my order, too, although I went with Baker Creek instead. It’s all worth it. Good luck with your garden this year!

Wow, that is starting small? I tried last year to plant a 30×30 section. Almost all was eaten by deer and rabbits, the rest was overrun with weeds. Although, you don’t have a toddler on your heals, so hopefully you will have better luck.

I currently have four rows at 4′x30′ each, for 480 square feet.

@Pauly: And hey, don’t give up! Rabbits and deer, I don’t have much to say about, because I’ve always planted in the city before, but weeds… well if you stay on top of them, they’re not too bad, but if you let them get the upper hand, you’ll have your work cut out for you. Mulching and regular short bursts of weeding are key to weed control.
